Khordha Firing : Police forms four special teams to nab accused

Khordha: As many as four special teams have been formed to nab the accused in connection to the yesterday’s firing incident in Odisha’s Khordha town that claimed the life of a medicine shop owner and left a paediatric specialist critically hurt, police said on Monday.

Speaking to media persons, Khordha SP Ajay Pratap Swain said that four special teams have been formed headed by two Additional SPs and two senior DSPs to trace the accused.

While three teams left for Nayagarh, Bhubaneswar and Berhampur, a team will monitor here, he added.

“We have sent the CCTV photo of the suspect to all jail authorities for his identification and criminal antecedents,” he said.

Meanwhile, medicine shop owners of Khordha town downed shutters today demanding the arrest of the cuprits of the incident at the earliest.

Earlier in the morning, medicine shop owner Krushna Chandra Sahu, who had sustained bullet injuries in the firing, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bubaneswar.

Sahu, and paediatrician Manas Das were shot at by two masked miscreants when the doctor was examining patients at his clinic here last evening.

Dr Das’ condition, who was put on ventilator in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar,  was reportedly stable, when the last reports came in.
