Khallikote crorepati ganja mafia arrest: Police detain few on the basis of accused’s statement

Ganjam: In the Khallikote crorepati ganja mafia arrest case in Ganjam district of Odisha, police have detained a few people for interrogation on the basis of the statement of the ganja mafia Rajanikant Patnaik. Huge amount of gold, silver, ganja, opium and cash had been seized from his house.

As per reports, Ganjam Police has taken the Khallikote Ganja mafia Rajanikant on two days remand and interrogated him. Since how long he was running the illegal trade, his allies in this illegal trade, how come he could accumulate such huge amount of gold, silver etc are the questions for which Police have interrogated him. It has been learnt that during interrogation while the accused has revealed some truth he has also tried to conceal some information.

On the other hand, today his remand duration is going to end. On the basis of his statement Police have detained a few people for questioning.

It is to be noted that in a big achievement, Khallikote Police on last Friday seized Rs 75 lakh cash, gold weighting 8.5 kg from the house of the illegal trader in Badadanda sahi in Khojapali village under Khallikote Police limits in Ganjam district.

During the investigation it was learnt that Rajani was illegally bringing Ganja from Kandhamal and Gajapati districts. He was bringing the contraband in his Scooty for illegal trading. He was operating this illegal trade since long. He had been arrested 10 years ago for illegal trade of ganja. He has reportedly earned about Rs 12 crore from this illegal trade. Further investigation of the case is underway.
