Keonjhar: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday morning conducted raids at the residence and other places belonging to Keonjhar Reserve Police Havildar Biswanath Mahanta on charges of acquiring assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The anti-corruption officials conducted simultaneous searches at Mahanta’s residence located at Aro Vihar in the town, his ancestral house in Patana and in-laws’s house at Rengalibeda in the district. The raids were also conducted at Mahanta’s office here.
The Excise officials verified his bank accounts, land records and several other valuable documents during the raids, officials said.
Sources said, Mahanta ’s wife also works in the police department.
The total estimation of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income is yet to be unearthed as raids are underway, officials added.
