Anandpur: Popular teacher Mayadhar Rath of Angarua village in Anandpur sub-division of Keonjhar district died recently following heart ailment. Best known as Mayadhar sir he was best known for providing free education to the poor students of his area.

With the sad demise of the ideal teacher tears welled up in the eyes of his students and their parents as well.
He was providing free tuition to poor students of the village every morning and evening. And in lieu of that he has often hit the headlines.

Mayadhar sir was suffering from heart ailment for a long time. Accordingly, he had been admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack for treatment.

Following his death, the mortal remains of the ideal teacher was kept at DN High School in Alati where the students, teachers and villagers paid tribute. Later, his body was later taken to Anguarua, his hometown, in a funeral procession. The last rites were performed at the village cemetery in the presence of thousands of well-wishers.
The close relatives, neighbours, colleagues and friends coalesce together and honoured the entire journey of the deceased Mayadhar sir. Many dignitaries attended the function and laid wreaths on the dead body. The death of Mayadhar Sir has cast a shadow of mourning over the local area.

He was 63 years old. The late Rath graduated from D.N. Vidyapitha, Alati, where he also became a teacher and retired as the headmaster. He is the recipient of Governor’s award.

The teacher was well versed in English. Besides, his translation work in which he had translated Rabindranath Tagore’s original English composition Gitanjali into Oriya. He was the source of inspiration for many people to write short stories, poems, and novels.
