Kendrapara: A man sustained critical burn injury and at least one cow was charred to death in a fire which burnt down two houses in Ramachandrapur village under Mahakalpada block of Kendrapara district last night.
The victim has been identified as Bibekanand Nayak of the same locality.
As per the report, sparks erupted at a room in Bibekanand’s house late last night and spread very rapidly to engulf cattle shed. Bibekanand immediately swung into action to save the cattle living in the shed and got him badly burnt in the effort.
While the blaze consumed one cow, three others sustained critical burn injuries under its impact.
Mahakalpada fire brigade officials reached the spot after getting intimation and contained the fire.
Bibekanand was rushed to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment by his family post the mishap and his condition is stated to be serious.
