KBC Fraud In Jharsuguda: Kingpin From Bihar Nabbed By Odisha Police From Nepal Border

Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda police has busted a cyber-crime racket and arrested one fraudster from Indo-Nepal border in this connection on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Neeraj Kumar of Bihar.

According to reports, one Nita Chhatar of Gandhi Nagar area under Belpahar police limits had received a phone call on the evening of February 23 from an unknown number. The caller identified himself as a member of the famous Amitabh Bachan’s show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and informed her that she has won a lottery of Rs 35 lakh. The accused then sent her the cheque on WhatsApp.

Later, Neeraj asked her to deposit Rs 1.29 lakh as tax in a specified bank account in multiple installments in order to avail the lottery amount.

Nita realised that she has been trapped in the cyber fraud and immediately lodged a complaint with Brajarajnagar police.

Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation based on the bank account details of the accused.

A special team led by Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Dilip Das of Brajrajnagar was formed and raids were carried out at various places. The cops arrested the accused by tracing his mobile number.
