Balangir: An incident of kangaroo court has come to the fore in Balangir district of Odisha where some college students have brutally tortured a youth.
According to reports, two videos went viral where students of two different colleges who surrounded the youth in a jungle and beat him up with sticks. The students also attacked him with cigarette butts. He was also abused and threatened to be killed by the group of students.
It has been suspected that the incident is a revenge of some previous enmity. He was asked to apologise to the group who were present at the spot.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) has taken the incident into serious consideration after the videos went viral. A special team was formed on the order of SP and raided various places in the area following which four to five students have been detained in the police station for further questioning.
The other students have been identified and search is still on, said sources.
