Bhubaneswar: Based on the recent debate on disinvestment/privatisation of Navratna PSU Nalco, which also led to CM Naveen Patnaik writing a letter to PM Modi and Mines Ministry clarifying on the issue, Kalinga TV portal team went to Nalco website to get confirmation on the government stakes in the PSU.
The website showed 80.93% government equity, but it was updated last in January 2015. That raised suspicion and we dig up further. We then noticed that Government had recently in April 2017, offloaded 9.2% shares out of its 74.58% stake.
It was completely confusing for us. We were shocked to see a Navratna PSU failing to update its Website for over two years although the Modi Government has been batting for Digital India and Fast Information through Web.
The Kalinga TV Twitter Handle approached Nalco and its CMD to seek a clarification on this matter. Two days later, Nalco realised its mistake and updated the page. There was no regret, no remorse though. But, we are glad they put the updated content on their website now, ending all confusion.
As per the latest information, Government now holds 65.36% equity in Nalco.
