Bargarh: Taking serious note of viral video case, Bargarh district police on Sunday arrested four accused involved in the molestation of a college girl in the middle of the road in broad daylight which went viral yesterday. Kalinga TV was the first television channel to highlight the incident.
According to Odisha DGP RP Sharma, Padmapur police had formed two special teams and arrested four accused who have been identified as Hotasan Hati of Khaira village, Ajit Barik, Jayaprakash Bhoi and Umakanta Bhoi of Bukuramunda village under Paikmal police limits.
Efforts are on by special team to arrest the other six absconding accused, Sharma added.
He further said that three persons had molested her while one made the video viral which was shot in the first week of October.
Notably, in the viral video, it is seen that a gang of 10 to 15 miscreants waylaid a college girl in a lonely place on Melchhamunda-Padmapur road while she was returning from college along with her male friend and molested her despite her repeated cry to leave her. They filmed the incident and made it viral on the social networking sites.
Bargarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Jugal Kishor Kumar Banoth had yesterday asked Padmapur SDPO Laxminarayan Panda to conduct an investigation into the obscene viral video incident.
