Kalanurangam Samman Music & Dance Festival concludes

Bhubaneswar: The “Kalanurangam” festival of dance and music by Nrutya Darshan Academy concluded at Bhanja Kala Mandap here this evening.

Ananta Narayan Jena, former Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC)  and Ashok Kumar Tripathy, Retired IAS of Culture were the chief guests of the evening.  Odia film actor Ajit Kumar Das and retired lecture of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalay also joined as the guest of honour.

The concluding day evening cultural festival opened with the solo dance by Rahul Acharya’s “Meera Padavali.”  This was followed by the duet performance of Bhumisuta Sahoo and Avipsa, students of “Shivakshya.”

Later, a solo Bharatnatyam recital was performed by Pavitra Krishna Bhat “Melaprapti” in combination of Allaripu and Ganapati Stuti, an invocation towards the deity of Dance Nataraja set to Adi Talam followed by Odissi duet Bakulavaranam Pallavi in Raag Bakulavaranam and taal Ek taali by Ranjan Kumar Parida & Asutosh from “Nrutya Naivedya” by the guidance of Guru Pravat Kumar Swain.

The next performance was a group presentation by “Debadasi” under the supervision by Guru Rojalin Mahapatra ‘Banshi Anuraga’ an Abhinaya piece.

The concluding performance was ‘Deshi Karma,’ the Sambalpuri folk dance by Lok Shastra Kala Parishad, Cuttack lead by Guru Gangadhar Das. A group of 13 folk dancers performed “Deshi Karma” which is performed on the occasion of worship of Maa Karamsani with full fasting and joy where a typical instrument “Mandal” is used for this celebration.

On the inauguration day on February 27, the Kalanurangam Samman was awarded to Padma Shri Guru Aruna Mohanty & Guru Dhaneswar Swain along with the certificate and Rs 15,000 as the token of appreciation.
