Kalabaisakhi in Odisha: 6 districts witness heavy rainfall

Bhubaneswar: As many as six districts of Odisha have been receiving heavy rainfall along with thundershowers since early this morning due to the effects of Kalabaisakhi, informed Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar

Reportedly, Angul, Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Puri districts are witnessing the spells of rain.

It is pertinent to mention that a low pressure area will be formed over South Andaman Sea today and neighbourhood under the influence of cyclonic circulation. The cyclonic circulation has formed over South Andaman Sea and its neighborhood at 5.30 am on May 5 and extended up to mid-tropospheric levels.

Adding to it, “Low pressure is expected to form near the Andaman & Nicobar Islands around Friday, then can become a depression or cyclone over BOB this weekend or early next week. Areas from Andhra Pradesh to West Bengal & Bangladesh need to monitor for possible impacts,” stated Senior Meteorologist Jason Nicholls.
