Junagarh Gang Rape; Eyewitness Bus Driver Arrested

Bhawanipatna: Police today arrested driver Lalindra Sabar, who is an eyewitness in the police investigation in the Junagarh gang-rape incident in Kalahandi district.

Sabar was arrested today after the police have recorded the statement of the victim for the second time on Friday.

The victim yesterday has accused Sabar as the mastermind of the crime. The victim has alleged that Sabar who had offered her a lift on the day of the incident was the first one to rape her. 

The incident had taken place on September 14 and the accused had also captured the entire incident on the mobile phone. The video which is doing rounds on various social media platforms features the accused, all with covered face, sexually assaulting the girl in an unknown place. More shockingly, the accused could be seen threatening the girl by showing sharp weapons during the act.  

The total number of arrests in connection with the case reached 10 after the arrest of Sabar. Earlier the BJP has also alleged the police of trying to shield Sabar due to his political connection. The party has alleged that Sabar was the driver of a bus owned by the Kalahandi district BJD working president Prabodh Rath.
