Jumbo tramples woman to death in Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: In yet another case of human-animal conflict in the State, a wild elephant trampled a woman to death in Terelo village under Narla Forest Range in Kalahandi district today.

The deceased has been identified as Sapuri Barik of the same locality.

The jumbo attack took place while Sapuri had gone to pluck ‘Mahula’ from the forest. The pachyderm which had sneaked into the forest last night pounced on the victim while she was busy collecting the flower and lifted her with its trunk to slam on the ground.

The victim died on the spot as the elephant trampled her immediately.

Forest officials have been rushed to the spot after getting information on the incident.
