Jumbo herd wreaks havoc in Boudh village, leaves elderly woman critical

Boudh: Adding to the unending episodes of jumbo attack in the State a herd of wild elephants wreaked havoc in Champua forest range last night by destroying a number of houses and damaging large stretch of croplands.

As per the report, the herd comprising of 23 pachyderms of different ages sneaked into Rajia village and damaged one house. Later the elephants destroyed a shop in Kanchanpur village and cause extensive damage to vegetable plantation in Kainta village and left an elderly woman injured while destroying a house.

The victim woman identified as Ludri Munda of the same village was admitted to Champua hospital post the incident.

The herd was last seen near Indraprasth village and forest officials have rushed to the spot to drive it away.
