Jumbo herd causes massive crop damage in Odisha’s Talcher

Talcher: Adding to the unending episode of jumbo incursion in the State, a herd of wild elephants sneaked into Kaniha forest area in Angul district on Wednesday and caused massive crop damage.

As per the report, the herd comprising of around 22 elephants of different ages entered into Bajrakote village in the wee hours today and grazed on harvested paddy crops.

Finding the herd near the village the residents called up forest department officials who rushed to the spot of late to drive away the pachyderms.

As per the Kaniha forest department officials, the herd has sneaked into Phulajhari forest after causing crop damage in Bajrakote village. A total 36 elephants are currently present in Kaniha forest area and efforts are underway to drive them away.
