Jumbo electrocuted after tumbling over trap for wild boars in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: In yet another case of elephant death in the State, a jumbo has been found dead in Kalatikud forest under Sambalpur Forest Division on Saturday.

The incident came to light after some locals came across the carcass of the jumbo this morning and called up forest officials.

The dead elephant which looks to be around 2-year-old might have been killed after stumbling on an electric trap laid to catch wild boars in the forest, said forest officials after reaching the spot and carrying out the preliminary investigation.

The forest department team led by Sambalpur Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) rushed the body of the jumbo for the autopsy to ascertain the cause of death later.
