Sundergarh: Union Tribal Minister Jual Oram on Thursday observed a day-long fast along with BJP activists here at the district headquarter of Sundergarh in Odisha to protest against the washout of the just concluded Budget Session of Parliament.

The BJP lawmakers, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are observing fast from 10 AM to 5 PM today across the country in protest against disruptions during the last Parliament session.

While Modi has not changed his official schedule, including the inauguration of the defence expo in Kanchipuram near Chennai, party MPs have observed the day-long fast at respective district headquarters.

In Bhubaneswar, hundreds of party workers also observed the day-long fast in front of the party office. BJP national Vice President Om Prakash Mathur, State BJP President Basanta Panda, leader of BJP legislature party KV Singhdeo and several other State functionaries and party workers have joined the protest.

Senior BJP leader and Padampur MLA Pradip Purohit said that he would observe the daylong fast in the state assembly protesting the continuous disruptions of on-going Odisha Assembly session and washout of the recent Budget Session of Parliament.

The second phase of the parliament’s budget session was a complete washout as opposition parties, including allies of the NDA, vehemently protested against various issues including the establishment of the Cauvery Management Board, farmer’s issues, according special status to Andhra Pradesh, among others.

The BJP had earlier announced that all MPs of the ruling National Democratic Alliance would forego their salaries and allowances for 23 days due to the budget session disaster.
