Jogesh Singh resigns from Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: Sundergarh legislator Jogesh Singh, who had quit Congress on Friday after being suspended from the grand old party, tendered his resignation from the membership of Odisha Assembly on Tuesday.

Two-time Congress MLA submitted his resignation letter to the Assembly Speaker, Pradeep Amat this afternoon.

The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) had suspended Singh for anti-party activities on Thursday, a day after its working president Naba Kishore Das resigned from the party.

The Congress party also expelled senior leader and former Union Minister Srikant Jena and former MLA of Koraput Krushna Chandra Sagaria for anti-party activities.

The development comes ahead of Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s scheduled visit to Odisha on January 25.
