Puri: A jilted lover was thrashed black and blue by the locals at Ekachalia village in the district after he attacked his girlfriend with knife as she denied going on a date with him.
According to sources, the girl vehemently protested after the youth asked her to accompany him for a date. Irate over which he attacked the girl with a knife. When the girl screamed for help, some villagers gathered on the spot and thrashed the boy and handed him over to the Uttara police.
The police immediately rushed the girl and the boy to the Balakati Community Health Centre for treatment.
While the girl has received grievous wound on her right thigh, the boy sustained injury on his left arm. Their condition is said to be stable.
