Jharsuguda: The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here in Odisha fell into the Vigilance net while taking a bribe from a local contractor on Tuesday.
The CDMO, identified as Dr Usharani Das, was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 5000 from contractor Debanand Barik.
Dr Das had demanded the illegal gratification in a pretext to pass a pending bill of a civil work, Barik Claimed.
Based on the complaints of Barik, the vigilance sleuths organised a trap to catch the accused red-handed.
Later, the vigilance officials also conducted a raid at the residence of Dr Das for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
The total estimation of assets disproportionate to Dr Das’ known sources of income is yet to be unearthed as vigilance raids were underway, till the report was filed.
