Jharsuguda BJD vice president held for misbehaving with police

Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda district Biju Janta Dal (BJD) vice president Sambhu Mohanty was arrested last night for misbehaving with on-duty police officials, informed Superintendent of Police (SP)  Ashwini Kumar Mohanty on Wednesday.

Briefing media persons, Jharsuguda SP said, “Belpahar police launched traffic awareness drive at Belpahar on Monday. At around 8.30 PM ASI of Belpahar police station Arjun Oram, and a constable intercepted Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Mohanty’s car and asked the MLA to put on his seat belt,”

“Sambhu, a supporter of MLA, came five-seven minutes after the MLA left the spat and started abusing police using filthy language,” he added.

A video of Sambhu abusing the police personnel also went viral on social media.

Later, Belpahar police registered a case against Sambhu under section 353 and 294 in this connection. Subsequently, the BJD leader was arrested, Jharsuguda SP said.
