Jharsuguda Airport to begin operations from Aug 21

Jharsuguda: The newly constructed Jharsuguda airport will begin operations from August 21, informed Airport Director S K Chouhan on Tuesday.

On July 3, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted a 4-C category license to the airport for the landing and departure of bigger flights like Airbus-320 and even Boeing 747s.

Earlier in May, the airport had got category 2B license qualifying for flight operations.

The airport has been built under UDAN scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had requested Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu to name the Airport after renowned freedom fighter of Veer Surendra Sai.
