Jewellery shop owner looted at gunpoint in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: A jewellery shop owner has been allegedly looted at gunpoint near Machhahata chhak under Sudarsanpur panchayat of Bhadrak district late on Sunday night. The victim has been identified as Tapas Sahoo.

Reportedly, Tapas owns a jewelery shop, named as Chakadola, at Machhahata chhak. Last night after he shut down the shop and was returning back on a bike carrying about 500 grams of gold and 200 grams of silver jewelery in a bag.

Thereafter, three looters came by a bike and shot a bullet at Tapas’s leg while one of them pulled out a sharp weapon on the spot. They snatched the jewellery bag and fled from the spot.

As the bullet has passed through his leg without touching him, Tapas managed to reach Basudevpur police station and reported regarding the loot.

On getting the information, the police searched the area and could not trace the looters. However, they found an Unexploded Ordnance(UXO) and cash worth lakhs of rupees from the spot.

The police have initiated a manhunt to trace the miscreants based on the evidences and filed complaint as the number of such loots have been increasing in the area.
