Jawan opens fire over land dispute in Odisha, 3 injured

Jajpur: At least three members of a family including a woman sustained injuries after a Jawan opened fire at them using his Air Gun over a previous land dispute enmity at Bharatpur village under Jenapur police station in the district in Odisha on Wednesday.

The injured have been identified as Sujata Pradhan, wife of Khirod Pradhan and their sons Vivek and Ranjan. They were rushed to Dharmasala Hospital in a critical condition, and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the Jenapur police arrested the accused Jawan- Maheswar Das, and seized his Air Gun in this connection.

“A case has been registered at Jenapur police station in connection to the firing incident and the accused will be produced in the court today,” said a police official.
