While speaking to reporters on his visit here today, Jena said he would talk to the concerned authorities on the possibility of return of the twin to Odisha as they have improved a lot.

The step on the part of the state health department came as the surgeons treating Jaga and Balia at the AIIMS removed the stitches from their heads a couple of days ago which marked the beginning of discharge process.

The conjoined twins were born to Pushpanjali Kanhara and Bhuiya Kanhara on April 9, 2015 at Milipada village in Kandhamal district. Their story came to light after Kalinga TV aired a special program based on them in its ‘Kalinga Bandhu’ program on two occasions, first on November 2016 and then on June 7, 2017.

After the Odisha Government’s initiatives the twins were separated after a two-phase surgery at AIIMS, New Delhi which were conducted on August 28 and October 25 last year. Since then they are showing improvement under the supervision of an expert team at the hospital.
