Bhubaneswar: The Central Election Committee (CEC) of Bharatiya Janata Party today announced the name of its candidate for the Bijepur Assembly constituency, where BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik is contesting for the first time in the upcoming election.
The meeting which was chaired by BJP’s national president Amit Shah and was attended by senior leaders like Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari formally announced Sanat Gadtia’s name for the Bijepur seat in party’s 4th list of Assembly elections.
Notably, upholding his promise of contesting polls from western Odisha, BJD supremo Naveen filed his nomination papers for Bijepur assembly constituency yesterday. He submitted his nomination papers with Padmapur Sub-Collector-cum-Returning Officer. BJD MLA from Bijepur Rita Sahu was present on the occasion.
