Puri: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has wrongly posted an image of an ISKCON temple in the name of ‘Puri Jagannath Temple’ at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai triggering a controversy on Wednesday.

According to reports, the error in the IRCTC poster was first spotted by Shambhu Nath Khuntia, a servitor of Puri Jagannath temple during his recent visit to Mumbai.

As soon as Khuntia found that the poster which mentioned the name of Puri Jagannath temple depicting the image of a different shrine, he posted the image on social media to protest against IRCTC.

“I noticed here jagannath temple pic which is misguiding the people on the name of Bharat darshan by Indian Railway at Mumbai cst stn” Khuntia quoted in his Facebook post.

As the issue became viral, the city based Jagannath Sena Convenor Priyadarshan Pattnaik today appealed the IRCTC to remove such posters across the country saying the act of the railway authority is a disrespect to the Lord Jagannath and its millions of devotees across the world.

“The ICRTC should remove all such posters at the earliest and stop spreading false information about the world famous Jagannath temple of Puri,” Pattnaik said.

It is not an isolated case of wrong information about the Puri Srimandir, a twelfth century old shrine.

In 2016, State-run Air India, in its in-flight magazine had published ‘Shubh Yatra’ – that non-vegetarian prasad is sold at the Ananda Bazaar of the Srimandir in Puri. However, the airline later apologised for the error.
