IPL 2018: KL Rahul, Ben Stokes, Manish Pandey get huge bids

Bengaluru : England all-rounder Ben Stokes triggered a bidding war at the auction before going to Rajasthan Royals for a whopping 12 crore 50 lakh rupees in the player auction for this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) here on Saturday.

Indian opener KL Rahul and Manish Pandey hit pay dirt with a Rs 11 crore deal each with Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively , while off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin went to Kings XI Punjab for 7 crores 60 lakhs.

Indian batsman Karun Nair fetched a bid of Rs 5.60 crore from KXIP, while Ajinkya Rahane was bought by Rajasthan for 4 crores.

KXIP has also bought Yuvraj Singh, Aussie Aaron Finch, South African David Miller.

Sunrisers Hyderabad got the services of Shikhar Dhawan for around Rs 5 crores. Aussie batsman Chris Lynn went to Kolkata Knight Riders for 9 crores 60 lakhs, and so did his fellow countryman pacer Mitchell Starc for almost same amount.

Delhi Daredevils has bought Glenn Maxwell for 9 crores, with Gautam Gambhir also going to the same team.

Dwayne Bravo for over 6 crores and Harbhajan Singh for 2 crores have been bought by Chennai Super Kings.

However, West Indian star Chris Gayle, who had set his base price at Rs 2 crore, surprisingly went unsold. England captain Joe Root, who has never been part of the IPL previously, also went unsold.

This year’s IPL, the 11th edition of the global tournament, will begin on April 7.
