International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples observed at KISS

Bhubaneswar: The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples was observed at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) premises today.

On this occasion, R.N. Dash, Secretary, KIIT & KISS; Prof. Harekrushna Satapathy, VC, KISS Deemed to be University; Nihar Ranjan Patnaik, Pro-VC;  Dr. P. K. Routray, CEO, KISS; Surjyakanta Mohanty, COO, and Dr. P.K. Das, Director, KISS were present and spoke on the Indigenous people’s rights and culture.

KISS has created a conducive environment for each and every student to enjoy Right to their language, culture, and traditions; Right to protect themselves against the loss of identity and Right to be allowed to thrive as dynamic living creatures, they opined.

The dignitaries also urged the students to revitalize, preserve and promote indigenous culture, tradition, and languages.

9th August is celebrated globally as the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This year’s observance of International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is marked as the International Year of Indigenous Languages as Indigenous Peoples’ Languages are one of the concerns among others that stands threatened.
