International Beach Cleaning Day Observed in Puri

Puri: The International Beach Cleaning Day was observed in Puri, the Pilgrim City of the state, on Saturday.

The campaign was jointly organised by State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), District Administration, Puri NAC, Centre for Environmental Studies and ECO Club.

Puri district Collector Jyoti Prakash Das, Sub-Collector Shantilata Pradhan, Puri Municipality Executive Officer Srikant Tarai along with the officials of Puri NAC and ECO Club attended the programme.

Students of 25 schools participated in the event. Besides, they cleaned the beach and took oath to protect and preserve the sea beach.

“Since Puri is one of the international tourist destinations it is important that the sea beach is cleaned and maintained well. On the occasion of the International Beach Cleaning Day we organised this event today to create an awareness among the students and the people to keep the sea beach unpolluted,” said the district Collector.
