Inter-District Bike Stealing Racket Busted In Odisha’s Gajapati, 2 Arrested

Gajapati : Gajapati police has busted a bike stealing racket at the Nalaghat area of the district and seized 17 bikes. Two persons who acted as agents in the gang were also arrested in connection with the case, today.

The Police were conducting document verification of vehicles at Nalaghat area of the district which shares a border with Rayagada district. During the verification the police came across a moped rider, who could not produce any documents for his vehicles.

This led to a suspicion in the police and they traced back the ownership of the vehicle and found it to be a  stolen one. The stolen moped was sold by a bike lifting gang which operated in Gajapati. The gang stole bikes from different areas of Ganjam district.

Acting on the information received, the Police arrested two agents named Salman Nayak and Trinath Reddy. Both the culprits belong to Birikote village of Gajapati.

A total of 17 bikes have been seized in this case. However the kingpin involved in this case is yet to be identified and arrested, informed R. Udayagiri, SDPO in a press meet.
