Intense Cold Wave Sweeps Odisha, Mercury Drops To 9.5 Degrees In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Severe cold wave conditions continued to disrupt normal life in Odisha, with major towns in the state recording average temperature below 10 degree celsius. The intensity of the cold waves remained unabated, despite a dip in marginal temperature during night.  

Daringbadi in Kandhamal recorded the lowest temperature of 6 degree Celsius followed by Angul at 6.6 and Keonjhar at 6.9. On the other hand, capital city Bhubaneswar shivered at 9.5 degree celcius.

Other towns in the state which reeled under extreme cold wave conditions are Phulbani (7 degree Celsius) and Sundergarh (6.9 degree Celsius).

Odisha is experiencing intense cold wave conditions due to heavy snowfall in the northern region of the country and the cold wind blowing from the Himalayan range.

According to the regional MeT department, the cold wave will continue in Odisha till January 2.
