Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, Congress MLA candidate from Aska Manoj Kumar Jena who had sustained bullet injuries in an attack by miscreants last Wednesday succumbed at a private hospital here today.
Jena’s condition started deteriorating since last night and he succumbed by the wee hours today, informed the doctors treating him.
Notably, four bike-borne miscreants had opened fire at Jena and one of his associates near Golanthara in Berhampur on Wednesday evening while they were returning from Bhubaneswar in an SUV and alighted it to attend nature’s call. They assailants also hacked Jena with sharp weapons.
He was initially rushed to the MKCG Medical in Berhampur and later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for better treatment.
Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra has assured for stringent action against the accused involved in the murder.
