Bhubaneswar: The onset of the southwest monsoon is uncertain and is unlikely to touch Odisha before June 10.

The regional office of the Indian Meteorological Department had predicted that the monsoon would reach Kerala by May 27 this year.

The weather department has now predicted that it may take a few more days to reach Kerala.

The southwest monsoon will touch parts of the South Arabian Sea, the Maldives, and Lakshadeep over the next 48 hours.

Adding to it, the effects of Kalabaisakhi will continue in most parts of the Odisha till May 31. However, the temperature will continue to remain the same.

According to meteorologists, the temperatures are likely to break this year’s record in the first week of June. Odisha will boil at a temperature of 46-48 degrees Celsius.
