Bhubaneswar: In yet another unique event, a 24 year old woman is all set to marry herself in the coming days, which is going to be India’s first sologamy.

Kshama Bindu from Gujarat is all set to become India’s first Sologamy bride on June 11. In a statement she said, “I looked up to see if there has been any such marriage in India, but couldn’t find any. Maybe I am the first one to do so. I never wanted to get married. But I did want to become a bride. So I decided to marry myself.”

She further added, ““Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself. It’s also an act of self-acceptance. People marry someone they love. I love myself and hence, this wedding,”

Bindu works for a private firm. Her step towards self marriage is aimed at highlighting that ‘women matter’. Her wedding will have everything, from ‘pheras’ to traditional rituals. Everything, but a groom! Kshama has decided to put on vermilion like any other bride. She has also prepared a list of five vows for herself.

Speaking about her family’s reaction to the decision she said that her parents are very open minded. They accepted her decision and gave her their blessings as well.

If that was not all, Kshama also has planned a two week honeymoon in Goa for herself, post the wedding rituals.
