Indian porcupine rescued in Mayurbhanj village

Baripada: In yet another instance of wild animals heading to human habitat over shrinking forest cover an Indian porcupine was rescued from Sarasposhi village under Karanjia Forest Division in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.

As per the report, one Arun Kumar Mohanta of Sarasposhi village spotted the porcupine wandering in his compound in the morning and called up Karanjia forest official Dhurbendra Nayak.

Later, a forest team led by Nayak and Kadadiha Forester Umakant Behera reached the spot and rescued the porcupine.

The rescued porcupine which is of 2 feet height and aged around 10-12 years has been released into Paudia Reserve Forest of late, informed a forest official.
