India v South Africa, 2nd Test: Ashwin denies Markram hundred

Centurion: Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin stopped the opening batsman AK Markram (94) to score a well-deserved century on Day one of the second Test against South Africa here on Saturday. He also sent D Elgar (31) before the tea today.

The Proteas were 208/3*, till the news was filed. HM Amla (56*) and skipper F du Plessis (1*) were on the crease, while AB de Villiers failed to convert his start and scored 20.

Earlier, the home team won the toss and opted to bat first.

India have made three changes in this Test, replacing wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha and Opener Shikar Dhawan with Parthiv Patel and KL Rahul respectively, while Ishant Sharma has been included in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

South Africa are currently leading the three-match series, 1-0. They had won the first Test at Cape Town by 72 runs.
