India test-fires BrahMos Supersonic Missile

Balasore: India successfully test-fired BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from launch pad-3 of Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in the district in Odisha at 11. 35 AM on Tuesday. The similar trial was held here yesterday.

The test was conducted to validate its “life extension” technologies developed for the first time by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and team BrahMos, said an official of the ITR.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman congratulated DRDO scientists and team BrahMos for the successful launch of BrahMos missile today.

DRDO officials said, the target range of the missile has now increased from 290km to 450km.

A joint venture of India and Russia, the world-class BrahMos has already been inducted in the Army and Navy while the process is on for an early induction in the Air Force.
