India test fires BrahMos cruise missile from ITR, Chandipur

Bhubaneswar: Yet another successful test of Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was conducted at the Chandipur Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Balasore district of Odisha today.

The trial which was conducted to validate its ‘life extension’ technologies was held at the Launch Pad Number 3 of the test range. The missile was fired from a mobile launcher at around 10.19 AM, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) officials said.

While the missile had been test fired from a Sukhoi-30 MKI combat jet against a target in the Bay of Bengal for the first time in November 2017, a similar technical test of it had also been carried out at the same base on May 21 this year.

BrahMos is around 84 meters long and 0.6 meters wide weighs around three tonne can be fired from land, air, sea and underwater. It is capable of hitting a target located between 450-600 km distance with pin-point accuracy.
