HWL Final 2017Bhubaneswar: India settled for a 1-1 draw against Australia in its match against Australia in the Hockey World League Finals.

Though the Men in Blue were off to high octane start right in the first quarter after at least a couple of close chances in the first few minutes of the game. But, the momentum eventually was equalled by the World Number 2 Australia.

Mandeep Singh gave India the early lead in the 20th minute through a field goal, which was levelled in the next minute itself through a penalty corner conversion by Jeremy Hayward.

“We had more shots on goal against world number 2, which is goof. The control and defence was good. In the first quarter, we could have scored more. Having said that, I wouldn’t say we are satisfied, because we want to win,” said Sjoerd Marijne, coach of the India team.

While local lad Dipsan Tirkey was declared as the Young Player of the match, Mathew Dawson from Australia walked away with the Man of the Match.
