Independent CMC corporator Padmini Sahoo joins BJD

Cuttack: Independent corporator of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Padmini Sahoo, reportedly joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday.

Padmini, who contested the urban election from ward no-31 of CMC as an independent candidate and won, joined the state ruling party in the presence of BJD’s Cuttack district president Debashish Samantaray. She went to Samantaray’s house and joined BJD officially.

“I joined the BJD party because I am impressed with the good works being done by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik,” said Padmini while citing the reason behind joining the conch party.

Meanwhile, Samantaray informed that four other independent corporators will join the party in the near future.

When asked who will be the next Deputy Mayor of CMC, he said that the party supremo will take the decision soon. He also said that it is Naveen Patnaik who will decide whom the party will send to the Rajya Sabha in place of the newly elected CMC Mayor Subash Singh.
