Subarnapur: A conman has duped an elderly person of Rs 50,000 in a phone fraud case in Mendhamal village under Biramaharajpur police limits in Subarnapur district.

The victim identified as Gobinda Kheti has lodged a complaint against the unidentified accused at Biramaharajpur Police Station today.

As per the complaint, the victim received a phone call from an unknown person on June 15 this year. The caller reportedly asked Kheti to share his AADHAR card number, State Bank of India (SBI) ATM card pin number and an OTP he received latter.

Kheti handed over the details to the unknown caller as the latter posed him as the Manager of the Bank.

Few minutes later Kheti found around Rs 50,000 withdrawn from his account and reported the matter to the bank authorities.

After the bank authorities failed to trace the conman even after a week, Kheti finally lodged a police complaint.

“Acting upon the complaint we have started investigation into the case. Vital clues have been found after verifying the data available with the bank authorities. We will be able to nab the culprit soon,” informed Prabha Dhana, IIC, Biramahrajpur Police Station.
