IMFA’s helicopter seized, FIR lodged against Baijayant Panda for flying over Chilika

Puri: While investigating into the alleged ‘Seaplane’ flying over Chilika lake case, district police on Monday seized the helicopter of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (IMFA). Besides they lodged an FIR against former MP Baijayant Panda.

Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi informed that Panda was the pilot of the helicopter which had flown over Chilika.

Apart from the former MP, two others were also there in the helicopter, which has been seized, he added.

“We got detail information from the Airport Authority after CDA’s report” Sarangi said.

Earlier in the day, an FIR was registered by Assistant Conservator of Forests of the Chilika Development Authority (CDA) Binod Acharya at Marine Police Station in Arakhkuda over the incident.

Acharya had alleged that one white coloured chopper was spotted at about 1.30 pm on September 15 flying over Chilika Lake area with huge sound and attempted to land in that locality of Arakhkuda and nearby villages.

Further investigation into the matter is on.
