IMFA founder Bansidhar Panda passes away

Bhubaneswar: Eminent Industrialist of Odisha, Bansidhar Panda passed away at his residence here on Tuesday. He was 87.

Panda founded the Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), India’s largest fully integrated producer of ferro alloys, in 1961.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, PCC President Niranjan Pattnaik, BJP Odisha unit President Basant Panda and many others offered condolences to family members and associates of late Banshidhar Panda.

Panda is survived by his two sons- Lok Sabha MP Baijayant Panda, industrialist Subhrakant Panda and two daughters- Paramita and Nita Ganapati.

Bansidhar Panda was very close to former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. Though he had stayed away from politics, his wife late Ila Panda was a Rajya Sabha Member from 1992 to 1998, representing the erstwhile Janata Dal.
