Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here has issued thunderstorm and lightning alert for at least five districts of Odisha today.
As per the latest Nowcast of the MeT department, districts like Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapara are likely to experience the occurrence of thunderstorm and lightning between 2:00 am to 5:00 pm today.
Spells of heavy rainfall has also been predicted for the alerted districts at one or two places during the same period.
In view of the approaching extreme weather conditions, people in these districts have been cautioned against venturing out of their homes during the alerted period to keep untoward incidents at bay.

Ms Kalinga
