Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here has issued a thunderstorm and rainfall alert for at least 12 districts of Odisha today.
As per the latest bulletin of the MeT department, districts like Ganjam, Gajapati, Raygada, Kandhamal, Koraput, Bolangir, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Nabragpur, Kandhamal and Sambalpur are likely to experience the occurrence of thunderstorm and lightning between 10 am to 1 pm today.
The Weatherman has also predicted a spell of heavy rainfall at one or two places in these districts during the same period.
As a precautionary measure people in the alerted districts have been cautioned against venturing out of the home during the extreme weather condition and advised to take shelter in safe places to avoid eventuality.
