IMD predicts rain, thunderstorm for 21 Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: With the further intensification of a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal, the IMD Regional Centre here has issued a rainfall and thunderstorm alert for at least 21 districts of Odisha till 5 PM today.

As per the latest Nowcast of the MeT Department, parts of districts like Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Koraput,  Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Puri and Rayagada are likely to experience moderate thunderstorm and lightning, along with light to moderate rainfall between 2PM and 5PM.

As a precautionary measure, people in these districts have been cautioned against venturing out of their homes during the alerted period and advised to take shelter at safe places.
