IMD predicts more rain for coastal districts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: While several places in Odisha experienced Nor’wester rain last night, the IMD Regional Centre here predicted more rain in at least five districts later today and issued thunderstorm alert.

As per a Nowcast issued by the IMD this morning, coastal districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Kendrapara will receive more rain in the afternoon under the impact of a trough line formed from Rajasthan to Chhattisgarh.

Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm and lighting are very likely to occur at one or two places in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts between 12.15 and 4.15 pm this afternoon.

Last night, Nor’wester rain wreaked havoc in capital city Bhubaneswar and its outskirt resulting in power outage. Uprooting of trees was also reported at a few places due to gusty wind.
