IMD predicts heavy rainfall in south Odisha in next 12 hours

rainBhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in southern Odisha and rains across the state in the next 12 hours triggered by a cyclonic formation over north-western Bay of Bengal.

In a bulletin released this morning, the Bhubaneswar IMD centre confirmed the cyclonic formation, which has developed over north-western Bay of Bengal off the east Mizoram coast, would turn into a low pressure formation in the next 24 hours causing rainfall in almost all parts of the state and heavy downpour in southern districts. The situation would prevail till August 28, it added.

Notably, due to the effect of the cyclonic formation, several parts of the state have received rainfall since this morning with Nabarangpur recording the highest of 100 mm of rainfall.
