IMD predicts 2 low pressures over Bay of Bengal in month of November, Rain expected in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted two low pressure areas to form over Bay of Bengal in the month of November. Due to this, Odisha is likely to receive rain during the second and third week of this month.

According to weatherman, a cyclone formation has occurred on the coastal area of Indonesia’s Sumatra which is expected to move north-west direction and gradually intensify.

Reportedly on November 9, the low pressure will be formed over Bay of Bengal which is likely to touch the coast of Tamil Nadu and adjoining Andhra Pradesh on November 12 and 13.

As the current low pressure area in the South Arabian Sea is likely to intensify by then, it is likely that the wind will blow from the concerned direction as well. Hence, the low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is unlikely to intensify further.

However, the coastal areas including Bhubaneswar and Puri are likely to receive spells of rain on November 11 and 13 due to this formation of low pressure over Bay of Bengal.

It is to be noted that according to the Global Forecast System (GFS) model, the low pressure which is likely to form on November 9 will cross the coast of Andhra Pradesh.
